In the year 2999, a villain named Muto invaded Earth by using his mental powers to take control of the entire planet's robots. Because of the dire sitution, Superman's younger sister violated the family's policy of waiting until age 21 to become a public hero. She became Supergirl and joined the Earth's heroes in battling Muto and his forces.
