Cir-El (Superman's "daughter")
Part of the Supergirl mantle · 7 known bearers →
Supergirl first appeared in Superman #190 [Standard Edition] (2003-04), published by DC. 21 appearances are indexed across 12 series.
Cir-El appeared in Metropolis calling herself 'Supergirl,' and claiming to be Superman's daughter from the future. Genetic scans proved her correct about her relation to Superman. When Lois finds out about this she gets angry, claiming Clark had an affair, but Cir-El claims Lois was her mother. A second genetic scan says that is not the case. As it turns out, Cir-El was a creation made by Brainiac to host the 'YES' virus; her death was set to prevent a future in which Brainiac saw Superman attacking the human race. Though Cir-El finds out about this and throws herself into a time portal, erasing the 'YES' virus, the unwanted future, and herself, she is brought back to the present by Bizarro with other Supergirls to help Kara Zor-El.
