Marko is a member of an unnamed horned species native to Wreath, the moon of Landfall in the comic Saga (Image, 2012 series). Marko's species has been locked in warfare with the winged alien species on Landfall as long as anyone can recall, and Marko's 'conscientious objection' to the war has landed him in prison. Alana, one of the winged aliens from Landfall has been transferred to Wreath to guard him, and the two of them fall in love. Alana deserts her army and helps Marko escape. The two get married and have a daughter, Hazel together. To the two sides in the intergalactic battle waging around Marko and Alana, Hazel represents everything they are warring against.
