Izabel is the ghost of a teenaged girl who died by stepping on a landmine. Her soul is bound to the planet Cleave and all of the ghosts bound to the planet are called "horrors". Izabel wants to be able to leave the planet, and in order to be able to do that, she asks Alana to bind her soul to Hazel in exchange for her saving Marko's life after he gets injured in battle with The Stalk. As a result of being bound to Hazel, Izabel leaves Cleave with Alana, Marko, and Hazel, and becomes the child's babysitter.
