Kurti is a young, anthropomorphic rodent-like creature who approaches the treehouse when they arrive on Phang, asking for food for himself and his family (a slew of young rodents like him as well as Uncle and Jabarah, the elders of the group). While the treehouse thought they would only briefly stay on Phang, they end up staying for six months because they enjoy staying with this family of rodent creatures so much. Hazel and Kurti get very close and even share their first kiss. After Jabarah lets the treehouse know the rodent creatures won't leave Phang, she suggests that Alana and Marko name the new baby after Kurti. The treehouse group leaves Phang and we see Kurti drown as the rodents pray for the rescue of their planet.
