On the planet Arnold, a Junior CPA named Joe-L calculated that his world would self-destruct in eight hours. He quickly built a rocketship to send his infant son, Norm-L, into outer space. When the eight hours expired, Joe-L realized that he was wrong. His enraged wife, Lowra, shot him dead. Twenty years later, the rocket carrying the now-grown survivor landed on the planet Levram ("Marvel" spelled backwards). This world was populated entirely by superpowered people. Because he had no superpowers of any kind, he was named "normalman". When he eventually returned to the planet Arnold, his mother revealed to him his birth name, Norm, which coincidentally was the nickname he had been using all along. Norm then married Sophisticated Lady, whom he called "Sophie".
