Le capitaine Haddock est un homme d’âge mûr, aux cheveux noirs et à la barbe et moustache fournies et noires. Il est vêtu quasi exclusivement d’un pull à col roulé bleu frappé d’une ancre au milieu de la poitrine, d’un pantalon noir et d’une vareuse noire, et il porte en permanence une casquette noire à festons et galons dorés. Impulsif et colérique, il exprime sa mauvaise humeur à travers les nombreux jurons inventifs qui le caractérisent, mais c’est avant tout un homme au cœur tendre qui refuse l’injustice. Son alcoolisme joyeux et assumé est sujet de nombreux gags. [Captain Haddock is a mature man, with dark hair and abundant and dark beard and mustache.
