Terry Curtis was born Terrence Kurtzberger. Father of Terri Kurtzberger-Rothstein. Grandfather of Albert Rothstein (Nuklon / Atom Smasher). Terry had a brief relationship with Danette Reilly (Firebrand), who later raised his daughter Terri following his death. Terry was an atomic scientist who was forced to become the villain Cyclotron. During one fight with The Atom (Al Pratt), Cyclotron exposed the hero to powerful radiation, which would later cause The Atom to develop superhuman abilities. Cyclotron died trying to stop The Ultra-Humanite. The Atom would later create for himself a new costume patterned after Cyclotron's.
