Hannibal is a genetically engineered synthetic human created by [gcd_link_character](8746) during the project to create [gcd_link_character](8846). Named after the [ancient Carthaginian general](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannibal), Hannibal is one of a series of 10 successful clone subjects created prior to Serpentor, but of those, he is the only one created after the perfection of the rapid-growth process. Because of this, he, like Serpentor, was created using an accelerated simulacrum body, which resulted him aging to adulthood at an accelerated rate. He appears to be in his late teens or early twenties. Along with the nine younger clones, Hannibal was raised in secret by Mindbender until the doctor's death and Cobra's later disbandment, at which point all were taken into the custody of the United States government and placed in separate foster homes by [gcd_link_group](2985). All were later abducted by a resurrected Serpentor and agents of the Coil, a [gcd_link_group](215) faction loyal to Serpentor. Hannibal appears to have some very low-level psychic abilities, allowing him to connect with a resurrected Mindbender via visions in the doctor's dreams. He also maintains a mental link with the [other clones](https://www.comics.org/keyword/name/Serptentor%20project%20clones/) and Serpentor himself.
