He was created when Doctor Stearn created a purification potion from an ancient formula to eliminate his dark side. Instead of eliminating Doctor Stearn's dark side, the potion expelled the darkness from his body and formed a separate being. Dark Stearn considers Doctor Stearn to be like a brother, but he acts violently and without remorse or consideration.
