After freelancing for a few years he joined Adolphe Barreaux's art studio in 1935, where several other Pratt alumni were also employed. The studio supplied pen and ink interior story illustrations for Harry Donenfeld's pulp magazines, such as Snappy Romances and Spicy Adventures. Also beginning in 1935, a new group of syndicated comics, including 'Rod Rian of the Sky Police' by Paul H. Jepsen, were marketed to newspapers. He has also been credited as the artist of Sally The Sleuth, the long-running comic strip that was created by Adolphe Barreaux. Paul Jepsen served in the military during WWII, reporting for enlistment on March 16, 1943. After the 1953 crash of pulps and comic books, Adolphe Barreaux closed his studio. Paul Jepsen painted landscapes in watercolor, found freelance art projects including designing point-of-sale displays, and contributed many illustrations to 'The Picture World Encyclopedia', published by Charlton.
