Aslan was a French painter, sculptor and pin-up artist who is best known for his contributions to the French erotic magazine Lui. He attended Les beaux-arts de Bordeaux in 1945 and the following year was admitted to L'école superieur des Beaux-Arts de Paris. During military service he sculpted a bust of the Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, and went on to create wax figures for Madame Tussaud’s in London and the Musée Grévin in Paris. He illustrated children’s books and branched out into advertising, record and book jackets. From 1963 to 1981, he produced pin ups for the French magazine Lui and its US sister title Oui, and some were used on calendars for car manufacturers like Fiat. His comics works include illustrations for Dargaud and covers for various magazines such as Menelik.
