Joseph August Tharrats Pascual, conocido como Tha, es un dibujante de cómics y pianista catalán. Sobrino del pintor Joan Josep Tharrats y hermano del guionista Joan Tharrats, cofundó el colectivo Quatricomia 4 junto a Paco Mir y Sirvent. En el ámbito del cómic, inició su carrera profesional con solo 15 años, dibujando Patufatubadix (1971) y Els Ninots (1972) para En Patufet. Posteriormente trabajó como entintador para la Editorial Bruguera en obras de autores icónicos como Francisco Ibáñez, José Escobar, Martz Schmidt, Robert Segura y, sobre todo, Raf. Creó personajes como Fort Baby (1975) y Ergo (1978, con guiones de su hermano Joan bajo el seudónimo TP Bigart) para la histórica revista TBO. Con Quatricomia 4 se encargó de la sección La Habichuela en TBO 2000. Durante los años ochenta colaboró con su hermano en Primeras Noticias y juntos publicaron las series Ciclo XXI y ¡Qué Gente! en El Jueves. También trabajó con guionistas como Andreu Martín y Víctor Mora en la revista Cimoc. Tras dejar el mundo del cómic, se dedicó principalmente a la música, especialmente al jazz. En 1993 fundó el August Tharrats Trio con la cantante Txell Sust, tocando también el piano en grupos como Big Mama. Joseph August Tharrats Pascual, known as Tha, is a Catalan comic artist and pianist. Nephew of painter Joan Josep Tharrats and brother of scriptwriter Joan Tharrats, he co-founded the collective Quatricomia 4 alongside Paco Mir and Sirvent. In comics, he began his professional career at just 15, drawing Patufatubadix (1971) and Els Ninots (1972) for En Patufet. He later worked as an inker for Editorial Bruguera on the works of iconic artists such as Francisco Ibáñez, José Escobar, Martz Schmidt, Robert Segura, and especially Raf. He created characters such as Fort Baby (1975) and Ergo (1978, with scripts by his brother Joan under the pseudonym TP Bigart) for the legendary magazine TBO. With Quatricomia 4 he contributed to the section La Habichuela in TBO 2000. During the 1980s he collaborated with his brother on Primeras Noticias and together they published the series Ciclo XXI and ¡Qué Gente! in El Jueves. He also worked with writers like Andreu Martín and Víctor Mora for the magazine Cimoc. After leaving the comics world, he dedicated himself mainly to music, especially jazz. In 1993 he founded the August Tharrats Trio with vocalist Txell Sust, and also played piano with groups such as Big Mama.
