Jim Shooter was an American comic book writer, editor and publisher. Beginning as a regular writer for DC's Legion of Super‑Heroes at age 14, he rose to become Marvel’s editor‑in‑chief in the late 1970s where he instituted a number of procedural and policy changes that helped shape the modern comics landscape and oversaw a number of seminal stories and runs for the company. After leaving Marvel amid controversy over creative control and policies, he founded and led Valiant, Defiant and Broadway. Shooter's contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Inkpot Award in 1980.
